Engaging with Informational Texts

Being in an English 2H class, reading text is something no student can avoid. This year, we've done many text based assignments that were actually pretty fun. At first the constant annotations and writing assignments were a little tedious, but eventually I got used to the work load that was handed to me constantly. The most important part about the reading assignments to me was how some of the texts I invested myself in, gave me new insights to use in everyday life.

In our AP World class, we have to engage in historiagropher texts and analyze their writing. For example, we read about the rise of the west in both eurocentric and non-eurocentric perspectives. The first assignment revoled around historiography was terrible for me, I couldn't understand it at first. However as we started to read more texts I was able to pick up that skill of analyzing the different opinions and see how each argument or claim regarding Industrialization is built of each other. It was interesting for me to see how even in different time era's, historiagrophers were still using each others work to fit into another idea. I believe it was a gained skill, to be able to interpret and act as a historiagropher. I know it'll come in handy during my other classes and It's a good thing I interacted with it early on.
